Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
I asked for feedback on the heads for use with some non-bolt in cams for my year bike. I was looking at some options on heads if I decide to go that cam route down the road. Scott answered my question and I appreciate the help - I in no way took it like a vendor was pushing expensive unnecessary parts.
What engine/compression ratio were you thinking of using these heads on ?
spending $1200+ for a set of heads for a bolt in cam seems like 9a waste of a decent head....and the S&S 79CC heads are pretty decent out of the box ....and have lots of potential for upgrading in the future.....pretty sure id shitcan the stock springs for a bolt in or even a step up for a bolt in cam...way overkill
