I was wanting to know what years are interchangeable for a 1988 1340 engine parts and also what model and year bike parts will fit a 1988 fxrs.
Thanks
That is what is called an open question, meaning there are so many answers that we ain't about to try to write a book! So as Scott asks, tell us what you have in mind and we may be able to give you a useful answer. If you haven't discovered them yet there are on-line parts websites like this one, where you can look at part numbers.
I am restoring this bike and would like to use used parts when they are available, covers, levers, brackets, controls but there just are not that many 88 fxrs part out there.
That's because there were not that many built! Back in those days Harley only made around 40k bikes per year, compared with roughly 300k per year these days, so you are looking for rare parts. Demand for new Harleys took off during the 1990s.
I find the parts I need on Ebay, but you will have to be patient. Some parts are available new as pattern parts, you could also look in the HDF Classified ads. Also call in on the Evo section where you will find other Evo owners and help on all manner of things.
