Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Looking at doing some motor work this winter, and would like some input. Budget is limited, so looking for best bang for the buck.
Bike is 2012 Limited, it has V&H power duals with cobra 4 1/2" slip ons, screamin eagle breather, and Andrews 48 cams. All of my riding is 1 up.
Looking to hear what others have done and how they like the results?
Have been thinking about going to a D&D ( had one on last bike)
107 kit?
Headwork and use my existing cams?
Headwork, and new cams?
Give me your thoughts on best bang for the buck!
Thanks
A 2 into 1 pipe will for sure help, and I would do some head work to get the most out of the cams you already have. I have a 14 fatboy and am doing a 2 into 1 from RBracing and cams this winter. I had a chance to look at some stock heads on sat. And from what the intake ports look like I can see why port work is a big plus.
That 48 in that 103" if tuned correctly is quite a powerful set-up.
In order to jump the power up to allow you to say, "Boy, this runs really good, now", cams/headwork, and a piston with a dome/machined valve reliefs(or just bore to 107"?).
Happy to help.
