Have two harleys now, but I used to build chevy 350 race engines. Always went with the cam DURATION, not the lift....big gains, big, big difference. Just sayin.

Good idea and considering the compensator issues, probably worth doing regardless of which cam the OP chooses.

That's all I am saying; look at the total cam profile and see if the profile is suited for one's riding style; look at everything. However, the first check, for me, is setting compression targets for the build and narrowing down cams based on that criteria that should deliver performance where desired. JMHO.

One last thought for roadrideking. Take a look at the S&S EZ Start cams for one with a similar profile to the 48 or the 525. I haven't looked but I suspect there is one that would work and would allow the OP to run the higher CCP without compression releases.
