Question Cam choice

I mainly ride below 4500 rpm and most times solo. Just cruising around with limited over night trips. The bike is a 2013 FXDWG with V&H slip on's, a K&N street metal AC, a PCV tuner and 1200 miles on it. I am looking for a good mid range cam. On the list is a Woods 222 and a S&S M.R.103. Are there others I should be considering? 48? Opinions? Real life experiences? Upgrade oil pump while it's open or not needed? New lifters and push rods of course. New bearings needed considering mileage? What say you cam Gurus?

Default woods

Take a look at the woods tw -5-6, it's a nice bolt in cam. Good numbers..

If looking for that big torque strike off the bottom, and still ripping thru the mid, then the 48 is a tough act to follow.
Bearings, pushrods, lifters, gaskets, and those cams are on the shelf here.

Andrews 57 replace the inner cam bearings and go with Smith bros push rods.

Get a good dyno tune & ride it.

I'll second the Andrews 48's. We just put a set in a customers '14 Ultra and he couldn't be happier with the low-mid power.

+3 here. I took Scott's advice and I put in a set of Andrews 48s a couple of weeks ago and it made a world of difference. Great cams for your riding style, lots down low and pulls all the way to the top. You wont be disappointed.

The other half of the equation is to lower your gearing. 30,31 tooth pulley, larger rear pulley, Evo-Industries 49 tooth clutch basket etc. Let the engine spin a little.

Yep.
Ever notice that the FXR's were snappy?
3.37 gearing from the Moco.
Hell, if it wasn't for a 4.10 gear ratio, Ironhead XL's would feel like they had an anchor dragging on the ground.

Definitely would not discount what guys are sayin of the 48, but i went with Mr103 and it works great. Not much info on them to be had but the dyno is up in the softail dyno section. Im sure there are at least 4 cams that will suit you and be right where you want it.
