Agreed. The only time 6th gear feels right is at about 80-85mph. Final drive ratio is on the list after ported heads and dyno tuning. Would you go with a trans or rear pulley?

OP's riding style seems similar to mine. But on a 96" Stage 1 SG. I will be doing cams in a month or so. I'm looking at the 48's - but as a lower lift alternative - TW6-6's. I know the 96 heads will take lifts up to and exceeding the .550 range - but how much wear and tear does this put on the valve train? At my age and bank account this is probably the last bike I will be able to own - so I want it to last as long as I do.

I'd go with the front pulley.i did the Baker DD7 on my bike. I know someone who did the Evo Idustries 49 tooth clutch basket to his Heritage. Lots of choices.
