Default Cam Selection

Good Morning

Looking to put together a list of things need to do the Hydro Cam Chest swap on my new 2003 Electra Glide. I found tons of info on cams here on the forum but everyone seems to have a favorite. I am leaning towards using Andrews Cams as they were recommended to me buy my local Indy who will most likely be doing the work. Not sure if I should go with the 21's or the 26's, most of the time will be 1up riding but some 2up on the weekends.

There also seems to be some info on what cam bearings to use, I know the inner cam bearings without the cage are preferred but do they come in the HD Cam Installation Kit-17045-99D?

Overall, the 21 will be better suited to the stock compression. 24017-10 is the full compliment innner cam bearing set, and no, it doesn't come in the cam service kit. Might look at this for info/ideas : http://www.andrewsproducts.com/sites...2014-page5.pdf

I just put Andrews 21's in my otherwise stock '06 TC88, I really like them. Very smooth low end power right from idle, nice useable torque for solo or 2 up.

Use Torrington/Kyoto "B148" inner bearings. I used a stock '07 cam support plate with hydro tensioners, new '07 oil pump and the Andrews conversion cams.

What was the cost savings using the Stock 96 hydro cam chest and oil pump vs the Screaming eagle setup?

For motors that don't have compression releases I like the s&s ex start cams

It was a little cheaper, but the real reason I did it that way was I got a roller chain front and back. With the screaming Eagle setup, you're stuck with the plate style chain on the rear.

Both will work well in stock compression 88 with no need for compression releases. The 21 will come in at lower rpm but fall off at sooner (low rpm torque). The 26 will come in at higher rpm but carry power into higher rpms giving higher hp. Depends how ya ride. I like 26...
Why are going to Hyd tensioners???

I went with Andrews 21N's, which are specific to 88 inchers with hydraulic style cam chain tensioners. I replaced my stock cam plate with a stock 07 plate and oil pump that someone else removed to install billet pieces. Cheap enough to do, and zero problems 25K miles later. Love my 21's.

Why are going to Hyd tensioners???
My new bike has 45k on it and hasn't had the tensioners changed. My local Indy suggested to do the upgrade and add some cams.
