Default Upgrading cam plate

I have a question, can i install a stock camplate and oil pump out of a 07-later twin cam in my 02 twin cam? Wanted to upgrade to hydraulic tensioners, thanks.

You will need conversion cams to do it.

Yes, you can an '07 cam plate and oil pump on an earlier TC. As Dan said, you'll need conversion cams; as the earlier TC's have .875" inner cam bearings, and the newer cam plates have 1.00" outboard bearings (actually they just have a bore, not a bearing).

You will also need a new inner and outer chains, new cam & pinion sprocket. IMO this is the best way to go to deal with the old spring tensioner issue, and get the high flow pump. You get rid of both silent chains this way. Not the cheapest route, but good value if your going to keep the bike. I did this with Andrews 21N conversion cams - runs really well.

I just did this on my 2001 Fatboy. I highly recommend you read this post: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/engin...r-upgrade.html

(Thank you gtmalone!).

You will have to change your cams to accept the new roller chains. I got mine from Andrews (21N), but any of their "N" series will work for this.

While I was in there, I put a Baisley spring and oil bypass plunger in, and new Timken inner cam bearings.

Great project and I am very glad I did it.

Total parts cost was about $650, plus another $125 or so for tools (inner bearing removal/install tool, oil pump alignment pins, sprocket blocks).
