Got a question for you all. Took off oil tank to clean it out. Anybody got a trick to put tank back on? Those baffle springs look to be a real pain. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are several "tricks" that folks use but none make the job less tricky; those springs are very strong and wrestling with them and maintaining gasket position is a major PITA. When I pulled the pan on my '02 FLHT, I opted to ditch the old pan and springs and bought the '09 up pan with the baffle built into the pan; no springs to deal with, just slide the pan in and bolt it up. The later pan will cost about $150 from an online discount dealer but IMHO, worth every penny after dealing with replacing the early OEM pan. Additionally, I also had plans to convert the early exhaust to the later under carriage cross over, which I did a year or so later and requires the later pan for the conversion.
If you opt to install the early pan don't follow the service manual instructions to glue the gasket to the pan. Use some small wire or cable ties to secure the gasket to the pan. Jack up the motor as much as possible for a bit more working room. Slide the pan in (easier said than done) with the springs; they will try to **** and separate from their seated position on the baffle, etc. Once you get the pan in place, the springs will push the pan down a bit but you can start a few bolts and then remove the wire or cable ties. Start the other bolts and pull the pan up evenly. Then make note of the new words you have added to your vocabulary and deal with the skinned knuckles and cuts. Good luck.
