Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Ultimately I want to build a 107" or bigger motor, but right now I am on a very tight budget. So the easy button would be to call Scott at Hillside or Kirby at V-twin and send them my jugs and heads and be done with it. BUT, like I said I am on a very tight budget.
I have found a set of 103" cyinders with SE flattops (#29893-07A), very inexpensive, and only about 5K miles on them. I want to use my current Andrews 48 cams, and stock heads. I have also found a SE 50mm TB cheap also. So with all this stuff together, where would my compression be? Can I do this with my current cams? Just rolling ideas around on how to do this on the cheap for now; I cant leave ANYTHING alone.......

Have the cylinder/piston fitment checked in torque plates; hone cylinders to break glaze and cross hatch and new ring pack. You can use the 48s but retain the stock head gasket thickness of .045"; a .030" head gasket pushes CCP and corrected CR up a bit higher than my comfort zone; 9.62 and 202psi. With the heads off, I would have them drilled and fitted for manual compression releases. The 50mm T/B, if cheap, is worth the cost; your stock T/B is 46mm.
