Default Cleaning engine/Decarb while running

Guy that had the bike before me must of had it running really rich. I pulled carb off when I got it to clean it and put CVP kit in it. Noticed the slow was 48 maybe and the main was 200 seems pretty high for a 88 with filter and 2-1 and whatever cam is in it that comes alive around 3k it seems but still seems high. pulled plugs out before spring arrived and could tell the plugs seem carboned up bad and can see carbon gunked up around hole.....Plus good tell tail is after riding for a while, ya shut it off and it damn near quits then 'diesels' for a few seconds til it quits.
Water has always been best way I know by spraying in the intake while revving it but was wondering how much to use. I imagine the heads are probably pretty caked. What would you use besides or after water method? Ive heard of doing water then seafoam fogging and letting it sit then running the **** out of it afterwards. Also heard of seafoam or topend cleaner but not sure if as effective as water method and then running treatment in tank every once in a while. Looking for advice Thanks

Yeah seafoam or water is what I've heard works good.

The carbon build-up & dieseling you refer to would lead me more towards burning oil. How many miles on the bike? Are your breathers running in your air cleaner? Any signs of oil in the throttle-body? Ever notice smoke from your exhaust?
There's some good threads you can search through here regarding the sea-foam, water & carb cleaner, but if you're burning oil you may want to consider a leak-down test to see how tight your valve guide seals & rings are.

The bike has 60k on it but as far as I know from the guy I bought it from, the engine has 2k on it. Guess it had a freshing up and whatever else his guy did to it but haven't been able to get a hold of builder, granted who knows if he ever touched the heads and just did rings and few other things. I want to get a hold of him as this 88A seems noisy as hell, like valvetrain noise but who knows. The breathers do run into intake, was going to change them but never did as I left the intake alone for this year. No oil noticed in carb or manifold or smoke noticed, just soot in exhaust but that I was thinking was from the fat jetting, or at least I think it was pretty fat.

Sounds like you haven't been riding it much, I'd be curious if there's any oil consumption and pinging. Been out of the loop for a while on CV's, but would guess 48/200 may be a bit rich, not radical. Sure someone with experience will advise on that.
JMO, if you are going through oil, the carbon build-up & dieseling at shut down, you may want to consider some diagnostics.

All of the symptoms (except the noisy valve train, which is mechanical) you describe will result from a too rich mixture as you say. If the heads/piston tops were cleaned up properly during the work 2k miles ago, the Seafoam/water mix misted directly into the carb throat for a few minutes after the motor is warmed up and running at 2k rpm should clean the carbon off pretty well. Don't drown it as it could hydro-lock. Shut it off and let it sit for a few minutes and then fire it up and watch the black smoke come out of the exhaust. You can repeat this if necessary until the black smoke quits and there is only white smoke (water vapor) or, eventually, no smoke at all.

My fat boy has a 45/190 main and I feel it's a tad rich, so if his has 48/200 it's probably too rich.
