Default Engine builders chime in..

I also posted this on electrical/tuners..
Hello, Looking for input on an upcoming dyno session next Tues.

I have just completed (With canned tune on the on board PC V) my 500 break in procedure.
The build is on my 11 road king

Basics is build done on 8000 mile motor.
S&S 106 kit. S&S Hi Flow heads. cometic head gasket, heads milled down .040, WOODS 999 Cam set heavier clutch spring
pushrods, springs, tappet set TC hp+, compression releases, Wards fans, Jegs 10 row O/C, V&H 2-1, Kur Mach II air cleaner etc basically anything we thought it needed.

Just started pushing the motor harder. It runs REALLY well and oil temps
not been showing over 217 so far (on a new digital HD dip stick).

It does have a stumble at about 72 mph in 6th, but otherwise the canned setting seems pretty much OK for a pre tuned motor. It pulls hard and deep in to the rpm range.

Finally my question. Will the PCV do this build justice at the dyno session or is it inadequate and if so what should I have put installed? SE race tuner?
THANK YOU in advance for your help.

Take the bike over to Lozano Bros. in New Bruanfels and have them tune it.
Done.

Good suggestion from Scott. Lozano has a "dyno day" every second Saturday of the month; next one is this coming Saturday. Mike doesn't do any tuning but for $30 will put the bike on the dyno, do a couple of pulls and map them so the owner can see what the motor is doing. Mike will point out what, if anything, he thinks can be done to improve the state of tune. The owner can make an appointment to return for a full tune. Mike tunes many metrics with the PCV so he won't have any problem tuning yours with that tuner. He does however have many licenses for the Powervision tuner and will sell a license to the owner so the owner doesn't have to purchase the tuner. The downside, if one wants to look at it as a downside, is that the owner then is locked in to Mike for a retune. Not a bad deal if you are a local and within riding distance to Mikes shop but maybe not such a good deal if one lives far enough away that a return trip is inconvenient. I usually go out on dyno day just to catch up with Mike and Ben, see some of the regulars and meet some new guys. Mike usually gets to the shop about 9:00 and Ben fires up the grill about 11:00 for free burgers, dogs and sodas.

Any idea what Mike L. charges for a PCV license? I assume this means Lozano's downloads a map into the ECM, but you leave with nothing other than the map. Similar to the Direct Link tuner.

IIRC, Mike charges $300 for the Powervision license. I don't believe he sells PCV licenses but does tune with the PCV if that is what is brought to him. He tunes the metric bikes with the PCV. The $300 includes a tune and the owner leaves with the dyno chart; he doesn't download a map. The tune is a full on tune that usually will take Mike about four hours. Suggest you give Mike a call or drop by and chat him up to verify pricing and get the details.

Or you can buy the Powervision and spend another $300 for a tune.
