The Woods TW5-6 is a Great low end torque cam for a stock 103. Doesn't require a lot off compression. Intake closes at 37 degrees.

Thumbs down I'm calling this BS

Do you have data or anything other than conjecture to back this up?

I recently have discussed with my local speed shop that I want to add a little more power to my bike. He suggested Feuling cams either the 525, or 543 if we do head work and change the compression, and I've done tons of searches and found little information on them.

I normally ride solo between 2,500-4,000 RPMs and occasionally twist the throttle up to 5,000 RPMs. A well rounded cam would be preferred but with so many options one can begin to lose his mind. Haha

Can I expect a huge difference in power if I go with the 543 and head work, forged Pistons, ect. Compared to just bolting on the 525 and calling it a day?

Which set ups are you running in your 103s?

Any input would be appreciated, thank you.

I Based my advice on NJSlim quote of,

"Can I expect a huge difference in power if I go with the 543 and head work, forged Pistons, ect. Compared to just bolting on the 525 and calling it a day?"

The 525 is really not a plain bolt in.. If you look at the intake close of 42 degrees requires a bit more compression. Optimal would be 10.3 static minimum.

so If you want to go just bolt in like I said there are other cams out there that will get you where you want to go by using your current configuration and an earlier intake vale closing of 29 -37 degrees............

do you know how to read cam specs???

Are you attempting to answer my question with a question?

There is way more to cam SPECS than just the intake close timing.

So all you have to offer is conjecture.

In the future a simple one word answer would be more than sufficient when you have nothing else to offer...

I know that my mr103 cams have an intake close of 33. But after reading this thread and looking at the other specs on my cams they are interestingly different than most ( especially on the exhaust side)They work pretty good though as a bolt in.

Well done... Compression bump to drive the cams. Nice numbers.

Thanks for all the info everyone!

I need to decide in whether I want to just throw in a bolt in cam, or build the motor with a cam to match my specific set up. Once I make that decision than I can narrow down my options.

I trust my local speed shop, they are one of the best in New Jersey..but with so many options I need to keep an open mind.

I am running the 543's in my 103b with stock pistons and compression. Installed the full cam chest kit. I am very happy with the power it kicks in strongly at 3000 rpm. It is paired with a thunder max, pipes, etc.

Nice! What numbers are you pushing with that set up?
