Default Unidentified substance, need help

I'll be as short as possible. I just had my cylinders bored and installed new pistons to get to a 107 inch. Rode it for 700 miles and decided to do head work. When I disassembled it for the heads, the rear cylinder looked normal with light carbon deposits on the top of the piston. The front piston, however, was coated with a granular substance similar to burnt salt. It is loose on the piston and comes off on your finger if you touch it. It is not magnetic. Any ideas what it might be? Bike started life as a 103, I added Tmax, SuperTrapp 2:1, Big sucker and Andrews 57H with S & S lifters and adj pushrods. It runs really strong but I don't want to put it back together until I know what the "burnt salt" stuff is. Thanks in advance for any help.

Shouldn't be anything loose or combustible in there. It would have burnt up and been blown out though the exhaust port.
Unless it's Gremlin ****.
