This noise, in the video, is with the cam plate with cams and chains still installed. Originally i thought it was the balancer chain, but the noise is gone after I removed the plate. Unfortunately i disassembled the plate so I don't know if the cam chains were binding.

Is it normal for the chains to be this loud? Could it be the tensioners? The inner was worn the most...see attached.
Obviously, the noise is coming from the cam chain/tensioners since there is no noise with the cam plate assembly removed. The chain could have a stiff link; could be the chain passing over the chewed up tensioners, could be some of those orange pieces in the oil pump, etc. I can't tell for sure but the outer tensioner appears to be missing a chunk from the lower outer corner of the tensioner. If so, the chain could be contacting the metal holder and making the noise; hard to tell from the photo though.
Check the chain for binding links, replace the tensioners with the CYCO tensioners, upgrade the inner cam bearings and disassemble/inspect the oil pump. Put her back together and all should be OK.
Mighty tough to diagnose noise on the interweb most times.
Had a client call once that said his bike was making a "fuffing" noise, and another asked once why would he smell "tire air" when at a particular intersection?

I hate I got lumped in the category with those guys....I'm putting the new style plate, chains, etc in so this noise, that I attributed to the inner tensioner and not so silent chain, should be gone.....or at least sing on a different note.
the tire air smell was most likely from air going in one ear and coming out the other, with no obstruction in between.
I've had a couple pilots over the years land the helicopter and tell me it didn't fly right but could give no further insight into the problem----now that takes troubleshooting to a new level.
