Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
I'm putting my motor back together after installing the 110 kit and having the heads done. I'm using a .030 cometic and they took .010 off the heads. I have Andrews 57H which have a .020 smaller base circle diameter. I have adjustable rods, but I have a set of stock rods too that I would like to use instead. According to my math, I'll be .015 deeper into the lifter than stock. That doesn't bother me as I ran my adjustable rods with a bit more preload .123 into the lifters before this project.
Does anyone see any issues with my math, or with using the stock rods on this application? I'm asking because I'm not really sure where the stock rods sit into the lifter on a factory 103.
Head Gasket -.015 from stock
Shaved Heads -.010 from stock
Total -.025 than stock
Andrews 57H .010 under stock (base circle diameter is .020 smaller)
Shorter overall -.015 (.025 - .010)
There's nothing wrong with your math.
The Cometic MLS 0.030" will benefit the 57H performance, good choice.
I've just done the swap (into a 110) myself a few weeks ago.
The stock lifters will benefit from the extra preload. Mine are now in 0.130" Quietened my engine!
Nothing wrong with stock pushrods.
It should rock with the 57H, very happy with mine.
BTW, who's tuner are you using?
