Default Roller rockers worth it ??

I may be asking some stupid questions here and if that bothers anyone....tough.haha.

Nobody I know uses roller rockers on their Harleys so I turn to here.

On American V-8 there seems to be a nice benefit from using them. My big block ran crisper and cooler with only roller rocker arms.

Is there the same or similar benefit on the HD motors?

Not necessarily looking for more lift but maybe a better cooler running motor ?

Anyone have before and after Dyno charts with rollers being the only difference??

Can a person install roller rockers? Sure you can. Are they an absolute necessity? No. That is unless you're planning on running a high lift cam in a hopped up high revving track motor. Will the horsepower/torque gains be worth the cost on a modified street motor? No. Roller rockers will not give a substantial increase in power over a set of standard rockers. The only improvement that I can see is that they would produce less overall valve train noise in the top end.

Unless cam lift gets up in the .625" lift area; roller rockers are not needed and a waste of money. I can also tell you from running both with .600" lift cams in the same motor, the rollers make more noise than the OEM rockers across the rpm range. Once you get into lifts that "require" roller rockers, there are valve train geometry issues also in play that should probably be addressed to take full advantage of the rollers................

I install roller rockers on many motors that I build only for the following reason - they reduce side loading on the valve in the guide on motors that have aggressive cams.

The reduction in friction does not produce horsepower that makes purchasing them worth it for their cost.

Odd, I have always heard exactly the opposite.

But, I have zero personal experience with them.

Most people say they are noisier. I haven't noticed it myself though.
I was undecided on weather to use them or not but most info I read said if going over .600" lift they are recommended so at .620" lift I did.
