Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Indeed, and frankly a good post to learn from. The Quickees (and the video I watched) has the nuts upward not down like these. Live and learn!
I was telling my wife that I could swear I watched some videos and the locknuts went up, not down, so there you go. And for what it's worth, the instructions that came with the kit were incredibly vague. At one point I contemplated whether S&S had inserted the wrong set of instructions in the kit.
ALSO, you are exactly right, learning is what it's all about, and I certainly have.

You and me both brother. After the 2nd 'incident', I could have sworn that a whole new engine in my future, or at least valves and maybe a crankshaft.
After I re-adjusted the pushrods THE RIGHT WAY, my wife came out to the garage to watch me try and start it up. I think she was as surprised as I was when it fired right up and ran like a top.
I had it out over the weekend for a couple 40ish mile rides, and it's running beautifully.
Good luck with the cam change! Have faith in yourself and this GREAT online community. There are experts here that have been unbelievably generous with their time and advice.
