Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Saw a video on youtube claiming there were some inherent defects in the design of modern HD motors. One thing the narrator said was that the pressed flywheels were inherently badly designed and were likely to cause vibration after many miles and also cause catastrophic engine failure after wearing the bearings.
Any truth too this? - or is it just a beat up? Thoughts welcome - especially from those who have put on a few miles... Are we really sitting on ticking time bombs awaiting catastrophic engine failure as the video suggests?

You already asked this.
After I posted I realised I hadn't titled it as well as I could have so I made another post. If I could have erased the original post I would have, but since I can't erase it I ask that you please ignore this thread.
Anything mechanical can break. It may go in 5 miles it may go in 100,000 miles. Look how many recalls the auto industry has had over the years. If you are going to build a big big motor you might have to worry about it. I have never personally met someone that has had one shift on them.
I would worry about your wheel bearings more than your crank.
