OK guys, Its time to do tensioner shoes on my carb'd 05 Deuce. So while the shop has it apart, I figured I'd add a few budget minded things to wake it up a bit. The bike has 37000 miles and its safe to say all the motor internals are original. Let me know what yall think. Ive been researching for a few weeks and am still pretty much clueless as to compression and such. Looking for a reliable Daily Driver that I can have some fun with every now and then. Already have a screaming eagle air cleaner and v&h short shots. Here's what I have so far:
Cyco tensioner shoes with gasket set
Fueling Lifters
Baisley spring with plunger
Drag specialties high volume oil pump
Torrington cam bearings
Se204, ss509, or Andrews 48 can (still deciding on this)
maybe adjustable pushrods

Just installed a set of .509's and tuned an 88" with the semi-same pipe.
and air filter.
Good broad power.
Andrews 21 is about the same.

ide think about doing your actually going to feel,a little more work & a couple bucks more.ide bump the compression up to 10.0-1,install a set of AV&V beehive springs and go with S&S .570 cams,
I'm interested on how this turns out...I did Andrews 48h Cams in my 05 fatboy last winter when I did the camplate upgrade...I have to say I love the power the bike now has...I would def recommend this cam from what I can feel. I am now thinking of doing a 95 inch kit just hope I dont have to replace the cams ....i would like to keep them.
Thanks everyone. I'd love to do a big bore kit and headwork but dont really have it in the budget. Only have around 1500 to spend and that's including labor at my local Indy to install. I'd brave the install myself, but I work midnights so my schedule doesn't really allow for it without A LOT of downtime.
I just finished doing shoes and while I was in there I put in new inner cam bearings and SE204's and a baisley spring. I didn't want the hassle of pulling the heads to get new valve springs in so I went with cams that worked with the stock springs. I opted to pull the tank and the top of the rocker boxes instead of cutting the pushrods and tubes. It wasn't very hard to pull the tank. Plus I saved the money I would have needed on new rods/tubes, and something about having a 2 piece pushrod just didn't sit well with me. The job can easily be done in a Saturday if you're ok with tools.
As mentioned in another thread I just finished replacing my tensioners in my stock 1999 Road King 88, I replaced the stock cams with S&S 509's and did the normal upgrade & replacement on the cam bearings, lifters and adjustable push rods. The new cams teamed with my S&S Power Tune Duel head pipes, Ness Big Sucker 2 air filter, Bassani slip ons and PCV tuner gives the bike a nice increase in power from 2000 RPM up to at least 4500 ???. Biggest difference is in 4th gear at 50 MPH, crack the throttle and hold on tight. Really happy with the power gains. When I have more time I will bring it in for a dyno tune but for now I'm using a tweaked DynoJet map made for a 95 built with Andrews mild cams, headers, slip on's and air filter. Just want to add I had no issues with the S&S adjustable push rods and tubes, once installed and adjusted I have zero noise or oil leaks.
