Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
i have a 06 road king that I bought as an insurance rebuilder. got it all fixed and I hear a slight engine noise.....cam chain tensioners are toast and the moron who owned it. (we will call him "just ride it") never did any maintenance on this poor bike. it has 40,000 miles and I am pretty sure its on its factory oil. but........he spent over $2000 on ***** g skull crap all over the bike. priorities!!! I am going to pitch that engine and get another drop in.
so rant over. what years can I interchange with this boat anchor? 2006 88" injected.
can I go a 96" without major drama?
Ok maybe not the lower end. But if you read the description you wil see that it includes. "Wood Knight Prowler hydraulic cam plate upgrade which includes hyd. cam plate, oil pump, inner/outer cam chains, cam sprockets, tensioners, and all necessary hardware to bring your cam chest to 2012 specs"
not rebuilding the motor. its had some huge neglect. I don't think it was beat on just never had any maintenance big investment for something you treat like crap. I would put money on it that the past owner dumped it for the insurance money.
so, next question knowing a 86" is a huge amount of work to swap over. will a carb'd engine work with my fuel injection? no extra sensors or anything?
You can do a carb conversion. There is some work involved. But you should have Delphi injection which should work just fine. No need to do a carb conversion in my opinion. It would be a waste of money to convert.
Could just do this as well http://www.harley-davidson.com/conte...e_program.html
