Default Looking for advice

Looking for some advice on what kind of questions I should be asking my local indie shop, or in general, before they work on my motor. I have a stock 2015 SGS with dresser duals and RCX 4.5 mufflers, I also have some MGS 4" with loud baffle in the garage if they'd work better.

Main goal here is to have better low end grunt for two up and all around fun. I cruise at 2500-3000 rpms and usually only roll it out to a little over 5200 rpms when opening it up.

I have read on here head work is best with a cam swap, also read that you can use a thinner head gasket to gain a little compression (please correct me if I'm wrong, still learning here).

I'm worried the FP3 will limit what I can do along with a cam swap, but willing to change to a different tuner if in the budget. I know different exhaust would be better, but I prefer the sound and looks of true duals, not number hunting just looking for better real world riding.

I'm just starting to look into this for this upcoming winter and will have about $1500-2000 to work with. What can I reasonable do to wake up the motor without breaking the bank? Any recommendations will be appreciated.

Default more power

You are starting your project the correct way by asking questions before you do the work. IMO to get more power out of your motor you will need a good set of heads that flow in the areas of the cam you choose. remember it is the heads that make the power, and it is the cam that dictates where in the rpm, band the power will be. anymore questions just ask. thanks dan vance racing

Cams, heads and proper tune. You should be talking to head porters; two have responded and they all can recommend cams with heads worked to the cam specs for to optimize performance. I am not totally familiar with the FP3 but would have the same concern; the TTS Mastertune or DJ Powervision are better options for a motor with modified heads, cams and more compression IMHO. Considering that as well as the labor involved, gaskets, oil/filter, inner cam bearngs, lifters, maybe pushrods and a tune, $2000 is not enough.

As for advice, you will find no shortage of that on this forum................

Thank you for the quick responses. I was worried I might be a little under budgeted, might have to pick up a little overtime.

Basically looking for 90+ HP/115+- tourqe, enough to have a good seat of the pants difference. Just want to make sure everything is reliable as I don't plan on changing bikes anytime soon.

Any decent 103" build should get past 90 hp & 115 tq,look into the S&S. 583's,set at 9.8-1 compression & mild headwork.youl'll see right around 100/115+

I have a 2012 Road Glide Ultra 103" with Cyclerama .575 cams, Supertrapp 2 into 1 & Boyesen Power X Intake. What would be the difference if using your Stage I Heads vs your Stage II Heads,, also at what compression ratio?

A set of our Stage II's, for instance, showed 131 ft/lbs, sae, on fellow forum member, Dave's 110", with a CR .575 at 10.1 cr.
