Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Your not going to notice the difference in lift between the 2 cams. The 259 @ 47* ivc is gonna want more static comp, 10.5-10.6 and will com on a little later and carry our a tad longer than the 777. IMHO the 777 is more functional than the 259. Puts the usable power to the left a little on the curve.
When I built mine it started as a stage 4 with 259 cams . My DYNO at 115.06 HP & 122.89 Toque. HD shop done 2 stage 4 with woods 777 cams their DYNO was 113.0 HP & 119. Toque. Just less not much .Know I change to stage 5 with GMR 600 cams. The CNC factory ported heads are small valve heads, needs all the lift they can get.PS I use A Andrews 4 degrees advance gear.
The real answer is yes the woods cams will work just fine to make good usable power with out change cams. You will see lots of low toqur with the rest of kit installed.

Peak torque and horsepower isn't relevant for most people unless the bike sees the drag strip regularly. I'd rather a bike with a decent plateau of usable torque in the midrange anyday

I couldn't agree more and it took me a little while to figure that out. Smaller peak number bikes outrun larger peak number bikes everyday. Not that I race a lot, but who can argue the thrill of a 900 lb. scoot gettin up and goin in a hurry?
if you don't race much whether or road or track you would be better off putting in just a 107 or 110ci kit and low/mid end cam (similar to trike rider mentioned in head thread)
