Default Help! IAC module replacement.

2003 FHLTPI

I am in the process of replacing my IAC module. Not only did the head twist off one of the existing bolts, I can't get it pulled because I can't figure out how to remove the throttle cable mechanism that has it pinned in. I see one mounting screw (circled), but I can't get to the darn thing without, apparently, removing the front cylinder head. Simply no room for tools. Any suggestions? I could pull the tank but honestly I'm not sure it would help me.

Half the battle is done. I was able to twist the module out from under the flange that was holding it down. Now I am trying to get the broken stud out but it's not budging. I can get a vice grip on it but it just spins.

That screw has lock tight on it. If you can heat it up it will help with backing it out. That job is much easier when you remove the intake

No doubt it would be. I got it though. Soak, wait, try, repeat. Eventually it broke free. What a pain in the butt this seemingly simple job proved to be. Had to loosen and raise the tank for clearance too.

Those F'n bolts snap all the time. Luckily the throttle bodies i was working on were off the bike and I had my machine shop extract them for me. Now when I go after them I heat he **** out of them after a few blasts of penetrant before using a small socket on them. I have had success with the last 3 that way which means either I am doing something right, or I am due for another snapped bolt!
