Default Starting question, 10:1 compression

Is it possible to have a 10:1 motor with a heavy duty starter (1.4kw), no compression releases, and still be able to start the motor without banging and breaking the jackshaft and ring gears?

Sure, depends on CCP.
Make sure battery, cables, grounds and starter are in good shape.

Hot, humid temps and after riding for a few hours you would have issues with the stock starter without releases, but I think you wouldn't have any issues with the 1.4 kW starter. Like TXCHOP said though, you would want to make sure you maintain that starter well as it would tax it more than usual.

What's the intake valve closing on your cam. On a hot restart that sat for 10-15 minutes lifters will bleed down and your ccp will go back up. The hot restart will be the hardest on your starter but the 1.4 should handle it....

Not only CCP but also displacement, ignition timing, and general state of tune. Also need to check pinion engagement, and make sure none of the starter mechanism is binding or assembled incorrectly.

I had a shop do it, didn't sound right from the first few starts. After one day, it broke the gears again on a cold start.

Well, If the motor seems to turn over well with, say, the coil disconnected. You might want to cut back the cranking timing. Depending on the ignition module used, you may or may not have some adjustment there.

He's right @ 195 ccc. 98" 3cc piston, stock 2001 head 85cc, 0 deck and a .030 hg with the tw 37 cam. Just a guess.
