I have a chopper with an EVO engine there are no markings on the engine except a vin # on the left case below and center of cylinder base surface normal HD spot but the number don't look like a HD number can anyone help me find out what I have, the # is *BKLX928670* the chopper is titled as 2002 if that helps
At 61 I've just fulfilled a life-long dream of owning my own HD. I got a super-sweet deal on a custom bike running an 80" that included a second, crated motor advertised as an 88". I'd like to know exactly what I'm working with though and like PapaJoe8, I'm stymied by the eng. # ID.
Can anyone help me out with identifying these two motors?
The eng. ID for the one I'm running is *DPLR504673*
The eng. ID for the boxed motor is *DDV2634749*

There are plenty of Harley VIN decoders available on-line:
Thanks grbrown. That's about as far as I got with the decoders. I was hoping for some additional VIN info as well, such as year and such. But I think I've probably gotten all I'm going to from the VIN research.
Unfortunately I think you will find you need the complete 17 character long VIN that comes on a bike frame to get the full story. The number on the engine is only a short form of the VIN.
The problem there is the motor was married up with a custom frame and no such full VIN exists. Oh well, if this is my biggest problem in life, I've got it made.
The numerical part of the number should identify what year each engine was made, but I haven't come across a website that gives us that data. A dealer may be able to.
