'07 should have hydrolic tensioners, stock from factory; not springs. Have pics?

Oh, that little spring. Bummer. Hopefully the oil pump is the only part affected and you can get it back together inexpensively.

I was surprised that the shoe was so worn at that mileage ,I was not tracking at all that there was still a problem.Ther was a hole in the surface of the shoe,I guess that's how the spring escaped?

Gear driven cams are the only final and permanent fix to the tensioner issue. The later tensioner failure rate is certainly lower than the early tensioner failure rate but they can still fail without warning as evidenced by the OP. Install gears and never think about tensioners in the future.

If your run out allows it of course. Not sure what the max spec is for that. I'm sure my 07 is way too off. Bad year for cranks.

I have been told over .003 is too much run out for gear driven cams. Most bikes 2004 and newer will most likely have over .003 run out. My '07 had 79000 when I changed cams. My tensioners showed very little wear. I run Amsoil. The mechanic said that my bike had the cleanest cam box he has seen with that mileage and my parts showed very little wear. Cams, lifters, bearing, pushrods etc..

Gotta call BS on that very bold statement. '04 and '07 were the worst years for cranks but to what is your basis to say that most 2004 and up will have more than .003" run out? A bit of a stretch IMHO. That's a lot of twisted cranks from the factory.

Long term plans for my 04 involve a timken conversion and gear driven cams just for peace of mind.
