Cam gear timing marks
Opened up cam chest on a friends bike last night to put in baisley spring for him. While there I rolled the engine over and noticed the timing marks where off by one tooth. It doesn't have a 4* crank gear in it. Anyone know how far off one tooth will be?? Bike has been dyno already, I'm sure if I line them up that will change everything. Not sure what cams are in it... he bought it used. It's a 96" heritage softtail. When turning it over the cam gear mark comes around before the crank so in my head it is advanced but not sure. Wasn't sure if this a old trick or not.

Got some pics of the gears. Not much more to say, pretty clear they are off. Just can't figure out how it even ran good at all. It's tuned with a SE tuner and I don't have the cables to check but I would think the ve's would have to be off.https://www.hdforums.com/forum/attac...1&d=1498001126

Going back together now. Buddy decided to put in new cam plate/oil pump. Old one had some scoring on the face between the pump gears and the plate, and some light scoring on the gears. Reason we were in there was because of low pressure once it warmed up. Only carried around 15 going down the road with manual gauge hooked up. Light was coming on at idle. Crank has .0035" runout. When going back together the marks lined up perfectly when I moved the cam sprocket back one tooth. Ran compression test and had 210 ccp after 3 revolutions on both cylinders. Near as I can tell it has 255 cams but don't know anything else about the motor. Still trying to get ahold of po to find out what we can. Should be interesting...
