I recently put new valves and springs on my 97 wide glide. I put those in because I was getting a loud clicking, louder than it should be. Which led to something getting stuck in the rear cylinder, I thought it might just be the valves and springs. Once the new ones were in I made it about 20 minutes on the test ride. Then the clicking started back up and the. Some thing in the rear froze up again. I've disassembled the cylinder and the rocker arms are good the pushrods are fine. So the problem must be in the head. What's wrong?
Are you saying that one of the valves will not open.? That it's seizing in the guide? Is it possible that the valve stem diameter is larger than the OEM valve causing it to set up when hot...? Was it doing this before you replaced the valves?
After they cool they will... It's only when they get hot is when they will drag. Can you still turn the motor over after this happens when hot? Cause if it was a stuck valve you shouldn't be able to turn the motor over.....
Put in new lifters. Problem is that they as they get older they end up bleeding too much and drop the valves on the seats hard. You hear the tick. Adjustable pushrods can help as you want the preload to be about 0.140
I agree with Bruce.
Another pointer;
If the new valves have a larger stem diameter(doesn't take much at all, .0005" can do it) they can/will grab the guide ID when warm, and chances are that scoring will occur.
The guide and stem clearence NEEDS to be adhered to, via precision machining/measuring.

Sometimes you need to visit a local Indy for them to be able to help you and figure it out. Most will offer good advice but will still need to dig into it to confirm what's causing the problem... Paying for a test ride and diagnoses is sometimes the best way...
