Why not contact CMC if their still in business? Give them the serial # and get the build sheet from them. Then you will know everything they put in your bike.

CMC was just about built out of the Custom Chrome catalog at the time so the engines a S&S 88" and the rest of the bikes Rev Tech. Good luck with that one bud.

CMC bikes were junk from front to back....I had a few through my shop back when they were still in business, Looked like they were built by 12 year old retards.

What were the issues?? Are you sure the owners weren't part of the problem.

The Indian dealership I did a stint with was the service center CMC bikes, part of the original buy up deal I was told. We had several through while I was there and biggest issues with the was just poor fit and quality of the parts used, nothing lined or was easy bolt on everything was off some how. Engines had a few teething & leak issues , the usual lifters and rocker boxes even S&S had issues in those days.

Trans by revtech and they were crude rough shifting SOB's and they had a lot of inner primary & clutch issues. Starters by Spyke and they didn't last long before puking the clutch gear, Thunderheart did the electrics and brakes and it was the same as Indians and I still have a crate with a dozen or so fried units around here somewhere. And just a bunch on small annoying stuff from there, constant caliper and rotor issues with them both brands . Most all those aftermarket kit choppers all suffered from the same issues.

TwistedBiker has seen these apparantly.......lol.
Semi-same we see here when in for issues.
Electrical issues is the usual complaint on most of the custom bikes,.
Big Dog, Illusion, Ultra Cycles(which we sold at one time), AIH, etc, etc.
Like Bruce has said, those CMC's came with 88" S&S engines.....sturdy powerplant.

Dealt with my share CMC's, Independence bikes, Texas Choppers, Panzer, Big Red Machine , Big dog's and a number of others , factory and the usual trade school " techs " had no clue if it wasn't a direct parts swap out so I got all the odd *****.

Thanks for the info. Guess I have myself a machine that will require some constant wrenching. Good to know.

Do you know of where I might be able to purchase or acquire a CMC manual for that bike since CMC is outta business?
