Cam issues
hey everybody Im new to the Harley world. I picked up an 01 sportster 1200 very cheap i mean cheap in running and ridding condition. My plans have come to stripping all the chrome and getting it powdercoated black. The left case cover was simple. The right side not so much. YES i have already tried searching for my exact answers but i couldnt find what i was looking for. So me and a friend decided to crack a few cold ones and try tearing the right side cam over off! First try was a success lol until the part when we were sliding the case cover off and it was all good until i heard the pushrod come down. So now Im butthurt Billy because i know i have to tear deeper into this to fix my stupid mistake. Remember Im new to this Harley and the Evo motor... basically Im asking for a detailed EASY way to fix my mistake. Can i pull the head cover off and loosen the rocker arm and hope the pushrod moves up high enough to push it all back together?! I ordered a repair manual but Im sure there steps will be to re time the whole motor. I have a few pictures to!
Go slow and use new gaskets and seals, including a new cam case gasket.

Following the Factory Service Manual, remove the rocker boxes and Rocker Supports, and then you can get back to the cam chest.
If you don`t follow the Factory Service Manual religiously during reassembly, you run the risk of bending a valve.
