Default little help with a TC lifter install

Never worked on a TC before..anyway..installing the lifters right now..I read the manual and it says install with the oil hole facing inboard..inboard ? I took that to mean towards the engine..but that doesn't seem right.

The only other time I see inboard used is in reference to the lifter covers.
" During installation, verify that the anti-rotational pin is held in place by the ribs cast into the INBOARD side of the lifter cover"

those ribs face to the rear of the bike on the rear lifter cover and the front of the bike on the lifter front cover ?????? what the heck,,

It doesn't matter on a twin cam...the entire lifter galley gets oil

Just had my 88" TC apart. Oil holes on lifters were facing outward, so that's how I reinstalled them.

I’ve come to my senses. There is only two ways to put them in. I put a light in hole and saw oil galley. It sure isn’t on the side away from the motor( outboard)

Back in the day we had to have the oil holes facing each other ,Now i see my stock HD lifters had holes on both sides so it didnt make any differance , I just completed a cam change and used S&S lifters, they only had one hole so i put them in facing each other
Old habits die hard

Default hope your not using hd lifters

hope you have some thing other than a hd c series lifter to install. last set I used was Harley ones absolute crap. got a set of s&s standards and don't hear a single tap-tick at all. Harley ones have a smaller oil feed hole than the s&s ones and don't seem to pump up as fast and hold the oil charge as well. and they are 135 bucks, pretty well same price as Harley ones.

when i get home i am going to look at my stockers to see if they have a hole on each side. If not then i have no idea why the holes would be outboard, contradicting the service manual( shrug)

Overthinking; just drop them in. The galley will fill and feed the piston cooling jets regardless of how you install the lifters.

I just changed mine and saw that the manual said inboard...but mine were outboard. I scoured the forum and the answer that made the most sense to me was that the instruction to put the oil holes inboard was a remnant from before the twin cam that has been left in the service manuals.
