oil on spark plug threads
i have a 2005 e police that has some oil on the plugs thread and half the spark plug is turning shiney black, only half the plug! 38000 miles on er, and rides with out a burp! doesnt smoke no nasty fumes! any help would be great!
Do you mean the part of the plug in the cylinder is getting oily - if so that is a known issue for 2005 - bad valve seals.
If you mean the plug outside the head is getting black - do you have a compression release pointed at the plug?

Thanks for the reply. yes,in the cylinder. First couple threads are wet, and half the heat range cone and half the ground strap are turning glossy black. Will it hurt to run it like this?
No but it will eventually affect the plug. In 2005 a new valve seal was used - it was very prone to leaking and was updated in 2006. You will know if it is really bad if you really start using a lot of oil or it's smoking a lot.
If the plugs have been in a long time, replace then with new and check in 1-2k miles. If oil use is excessive, it will start to build carbon on top of the pistons.
