Default Impact on crank?

I think I spun my crank loosing the compensater with impact. It's either that or the new stator rotor is out of balance. I shouldn't of done it but when I seen the manual said to take impact to loosen it. If I did spin crank, I should be able to see on the cam side? I know it was .003 before. Bike has vibration that it didn't have before, sounds different and don't rev like it did. I think I'm about to learn all about the bottom end. Any tips welcome. I'd like do do as much as I can, if not all the work.

highly doubt you wacked the FW out of true by using a impact,if it was that loose,it would have gone out of true just by riding it,.003 is a lot of run out on a evo.might be time to have it looked at

why did you use an impact? breaker bar takes it off easily if you drop your weight on it. Also using the primary locking bar of course.

I think you are right about the crank. Looks like magnet came off drain plug and was wedged on top of starter ring gear against the starter shaft. PTO side is within .0005inch.

Some one forum says all the garages uses impact. Probably they are in hurry to make money. I just took one off last week with breaker bar. I tie down rear brake.

Not saying that is your problem. I replaced a stator last night, since I had primary off.

I cut a piece of steel bar about 6" long and put it between the sprockets to lock them in place while I hit the nuts with a breaker bar. Same for tightening only torque wrench.

Glad your issue wasn't more involved.
