Question for the porting pro's
To be perfectly honest, I didn't really notice a difference in heat.
Removing the cat to reduce heat seems to be a common belief, but I question it now.
If the cat is below the passenger foot board and behind a cover, then most if not all the heat should be swept back while the bike is in motion.
I agree that while the bike is stopped and running the cat may throw off some heat that would be felt mainly by the passengers right foot/ leg.
In my case, I very seldom get stuck at a stop with the bike running. 90%+ of my riding is no rural roads.
I purchased a replacement used head pipe with the cat intact, just because it sounded much better to my ear than the gutted pipe.
I still have the gutted pipe if somebody wants it.
What would you consider a good but fairly quiet exhaust system?
My 2006 RK 95" with se heads and Andrews 54 cams had Rinehart true dual's.
The bike was considerably quicker than my 2016 103ho and I liked the sound of the true dual's.
The se mufflers and gutted cat on my 2016 sounded too loud and not as nice, at least to my ears.
