Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Do you have a tech or engine builder in your area? I would consult with them in this issue. Every cam listed will increase power, you want the installer involved though he’s going to know the nuances better on the one he has the most experience with on this engine.
the tech will also know what to expect for improvements and tuning.
without doing other work, which starts getting into a lot more money you have limitations on cam choices, but all will make for a better performance buit engine.
Stick with the big names
I have used Andrews and Woods, and BTW Woods are ground by Andrews to Wood’s specs.
Woods makes power Quick, this is due to the ramp grind, but they are noted for being a little mechanical noisy, some baggers may be put off by that.
i love it on my bike, it’s the W6 in a Built Evo
I have a 2011 flhtci and ride 2 up and lot highway riding what cam will increase power between 2500-4000 rpm
I have a 2005 Road King, bored out to 95". I run an Andrews TW26. The cam has a wide flat tourque band and my motor pulls hard from 1500 on up. I don't think I've ever had it over 4500 rpm, no need to. This is a very good Bagger cam if you like torque.
