Default Sporty oil circulation.

This probably a common question, but how long does it take for oil to reach the top of the 1200 Sporty stock engine after a cold start?

Just a second or two for pressure thru the line.. There is always lubrication on the parts. So it really does not matter. If the engine stops with a valve in the open position, the bleed on a lifter can bleed down and you will get a little tap but that hurts nothing. The bleed in the lifter makes sure the lifter cannot prevent the valve from seating. The lifter also does not have the power to overcome valve spring.
There is a check in the filter and also in or around oil pump. The one around the oil pump is to make sure you do not have an oil light at idle. When it gets worn or a little trash, why you hear people worrying about low oil pressure.

20W-50 Dino Oil - 4 or 5 seconds.
20W-50 Syn oil - 2 or 3 seconds.

well, it could take a couple of minutes, especially so with the hd lifters. the s&s are way better in this department.
this is an advantage of the s&s lifter spacers i run in the stock lifter since it runs like a solid.
oil just does not pour through the lifters like an oil gallery.

depends on how long the bike has sat inactive also. sometimes the oil drains to the sump area and can take a minute or two to get back to the correct level in the tank, similar to what the softail folks go through. this has been my experience on my 2 sporties, as they both sit for lengthes of time between rides on them.
if it's ridden frequently this condition is not common, but on one that sits.....

Absolutely zero need or benefit running S&S travel limiters in a street Xl. Kind of silly if you ask me. Full blown dedicated Hot rod or strip bike that turns high rpms is a different story. 7500 plus rpm

well, it is all about choice, so i beg to diff mr.mad!
no worries about pump up, no worries about collapse, instant cold start with near full valve action and i do push the redline and not the stock 5400 either.
this is a street hopper so bring on your hydraulic roller.
oh BTW: hummmmm??? wonder what they had before hydraulic, well hummmmm???? must have been solids. run all my hd with solids. my choice!
