U have a 2001 roadking .installed a gear drive cam kit from s&s almost a year ago.2 months ago it blew dipstick out "GONE." Bought new one and put extra vent on spout neck so wont lose it again.now oil coming out vent line BIG TIME.! What is the cause of this what a mess.i lowered oil level 3.5 quarts of oil .i rode over 2 hundered miles before it did this.thankyou for any help.
Early bikes could get oil into the vent in the trans case and pop a dipstick. Also, if the dipstick rubber "shrank/hardened" over time and became loose, the dipsticks could easily pop. That is why HD went to the vent on the filler neck as opposed to down inside the tranny case.
Best thing to do is update to the new style filler neck with the vent running from the filler to the cam chest and plug off the old vent on the top of the trans case.
Other diagnostics would be those listed above (Scott) and excessive ring blowby.
Because of the year, dipstick/vent are very possible. If you just have a line connected to your filler neck and it's open to the atmosphere you are certain to have a lot of oil coming from it - not sure about what you did from your post.

When you installed the new gear drive cams, did you change the breathers? If so, you might have them installed improperly.
I am having the bike looked at as we speak..we checked the breathers were breathing good.i had a vent line installed below the filler neck running into the airfilter.it filled my air box / throttle body.at least i saved not having to buy another dipstick.
if rocker boxes where removed, the gaskets could be on backwards, pretty common problem.or your pump mat be mis aligned or a seal pinched & its sumping.drain the lower end and see how much oil is in there, shouldnt be more that 7-8 oz

You should absolutely not be connecting a line from the oil filler neck to the intake. That is a big mistake. If there were no problems for a long time since the install you most likely had a cloggd vent and or loose dipstick as I explained or what Scott talked about. I believe your line created a problem.
Vent should be from filler neck to cam chest described.
