So …. let's get this straight , the twin cam engine went through this in the first year of production , there were a number of incidents , followed by a product improvement campaign . Dealerships were repairing them all , I worked for one , we fixed a lot of them , the fix also included a splined cam sprocket.
So this is happening again ???

I have seen Steve at GMR post a few pics on his Facebook page and on another forum about this issue, I'm not exactly sure what he is doing to remedy the situation but a phone call to him may help you get your's resolved

I picked up the "Camshaft Drive Retention Kit" at my dealer the other day. Two bolts two washers $5.60. Cheap insurance. The master tech and shop forman said he never reuses them and this is what the problem may be. In fact, he never reuses any torqued fastener.

I sheared off my cam crank bolt last night using a brand new bolt (01 DYNA). It would seem my torque wrench isn't calibrated. But 15lbs was pretty low on its gauge so i think i'll use my IN LBS wrench at like 180 in lbs where thats a little closer to the middle range. Hoping to get the bolt out today, got a hole drilled in it last night but needed to buy a bolt extractor. Hopefully that RED locktite didn't get it stuck too much. Might have to hit it with the propane torch for a sec.
