Default Fuel Issue

I got a 99 Wide Glide with the 88 Twin Cam and was gonna go for a ride. It took some extra cranking and throttle to fire, and would only run 10 seconds or so with the throttle before it coughed and started pouring a fuel/oil mixture out the intake. It also smoked really bad out the exhaust. I turned the fuel off in case it was flooded and that didn't seem to help. Blown head gasket?? Any idea what the issue could be and what to do?

Carb floater stuck? Is it still leaking when the fuel tank is on and the engine not running?

It doesn't leak when it's not running just a couple seconds after it dies.

had the bike sat for a while or was it ridden regularly? sounds like it could be a sumping issue if not a carb only. if its puking oil through the vent system, you need to confirm that so you can move on to the next. pop the air cleaner off, then reomove the hoses from the breather ports and crank it, if oil is comig out of the breather ports, you need to check some more stuff, let us know.

It sat for about a week. I ride about once a week or more, and put on about 3000-4000 miles a season. I wont have time to get a good look into it until this weekend. It had primer flakes plugging the fuel screen earlier this year and I cleaned the tank and switched the fuel valve to the type without the vacuum if that could be a cause.

Sounds like sumping symptoms, but.....

Sounds like a time to clean the carbs and fuel system.
