What is the procedure for one peice push rod instal? IV used adjustable before but want to use one piece pushrods for multiple reasons this time. It's been awhile since I've worked on a pushrod engine without using adjustable pushrods and am wondering best practice for buttoning it up to ensure no issues. Cam swap with similar base circle and new lifters. Should I tighten the rocker arm assembly in increments to let the lifters bleed down? If some one can walk me through it I would really appreciate it.
Go buy the Factory Service Manual for your bike. It gives a very detailed explanation of the full procedure, how to find TDC etc. Doing the work for the first time without a FSM is a recipe for disaster. And you can cause a disaster in your motor if done incorrectly. But not hard to do following the FSM, good luck.
What cams, whose solid pushrods and what hg are you planning to use. Let’s find out if this smells bad from jump street before the play by play is given. Oh ya and first always get the manual.
2016 flss, I plan on redshift 587 cams and stock pushrods were used on a guys bike I know with those cams, s&s tappets, I have the service manual just have to get it its 2 hours away at a friends house I helped. I'm just that guy that thinks about **** alot and find my brain wondering before I have the means to find out... Ha
If using stock sized hg then things should stack up ok. Opt for .030 then I’d do adjustable. In the sake of lessening valve train noise you’ll ideally want .130-.140 lifter preload.
Ya I'm not planning on a head gasket change at the moment, if I'm not happy with the rs587 cams I'm going to skim the heads .035ish and use .030 gaskets(try to hit 10.2:1 to 10.5 :1) with cr575 for a nice Torque build next winter. In that case I will use adjustables, IV heard really good things from multiple people regarding the rs587 so I'm gonna try em out first.

I'm also a fan of one piece pushrods. I like the SE +.030/+.060 versions, and if desired Smith Brothers will make any custom length for a very reasonable price.
As mentioned, tighten the support bolts slowly in a criss cross pattern, allowing the lifters to bleed down. Also VERY IMPORTANT.... blow or swab all of the oil out of the support & breather bolt holes before installation. Failing to do so can trap the oil with nowhere to go (hydrolocked) and crack the head casting. There's a short video of the procedure on my website here.... https://rockout.biz/installation-instructions
Have fun

I don't know about changing the PR length but roller rockers will likely give you a noisier top end.
