Fatboy stalling and breakdown
I saw about a dirty air intake so cleaned this out with carb cleaner and everything seemed good
The bike ran fine with pillion and luggage on a 500 mile run without missing a beat
Then the next day the problems re occurred and cleaning the air intake would not help
As this happened on a ride out we attempted to limp back where the symptoms worsened to only firing on one cylinder and occasionally both at higher revs before finally giving up and stopping running altogether having used a surprisingly large amount of fuel
On inspection there appears to be a good spark at each plug
a strong smell of petrol
I have noticed that when the ignition is switched on the whine from the fuel pump sounds different possibly slower
Any tips on where to start looking would be gratefully received
Thanks Dave
Just looked for fault codes and got

P1356

Hiya thanks for the help Id seen some comments in other peoples chats about pin holes in fuel lines so as my bike is 12 years old now I was thinking of replacing the fuel filter and fuel lines to remove this option and check the pump and pressure at that time as a maintenance even if this does not prove to be the cause
Thanks for the suggestion its confirmed my decision to do this
You may have seen on my other reply that I’m planning on replacing the fuel filter and fuel lines so will check out the fuel pump at this time
Thanks again for your help I’ll give these thoughts a try see how it pans out and post and results
Cleaned the air intake and sensor
Jiggled the the aftermarket fuel management box unplugged and reconnected various sensors and moving different sections of wiring
Thought Id just see if it would start so put in some fresh fuel
Pressed the start button and this time it springs into life running sweetly
Very pleased but still a little concerned this may reoccur So fingers crossed and waiting for a suitable day for a test ride
Thanks for your ideas and help
If it reoccurs Ill at least have some ideas of what to do
