Fvck the Evo, Will politely disagree,

it's an antiquated design.
Have to agree, the following features are completely dated.
45 degree V with single crankpin.
Pushrod valve actuation.
Knife and Fork connecting rods are positively antediluvian.

Oh wait, the TC & M8 share those features.

Quote: Thanks, I'll see if I can find someone who even knows how to do a multi angled valve job, seals and a clean up on HD evo heads here, but I'm not too hopeful!! 🤔

Cheers
Get intouch with Troy Anderson (mmvtwin@gmail.com); he owns and runs Mandurah Mobile V-Twin just south of Perth. Search on Mandurah Mobile Vtwin and his Facebook page will come up. He can probably answer all your questions and help come up with a complete build plan.

Thanks mate, that's great. I've ridden with troy a few years ago so I know who he is.

Thanks again. All the best.

Quote: Just a suggestion. Your bike do how you want. IF you aren't going to do any head work, don't go nuts with compression. It will need to breath.
hey bass, what do you mean by "nuts" ?
9.5.1......10.1..... 10.5 ?

I will probably be able to get some basic head work done, very basic port and polish, 1.9 intake valve and a valve job whatever that is. Also can cc them to whatever is best for the combo.

Thanks

Quote: As for milling the heads, you just have to go to the Big Boyz compression calculator and put in the data and shoot for 9.6 corrected and 190-200 CCP. You might also consider the V&H FP3; several guys that lack access to a dyno tuner are going that route with decent results.

Instead of milling heads, you might need to go the other way with domed pistons, leaving the heads alone except for new guide seals, multi angle valve job and general cleanup.
hey djl, looks ok going down the road you have suggested.
EV27 cam
10.1 wiseco tracker / traditional pistons
setting me at around 190 ccp WITHOUT zero decking the pistons, they could be around .008 down the hole??
Leaving the heads stock, even at their stock chamber size whatever they may be 85 / 84 / 83 l don't know what's normal
Giving the heads a check over and a slight clean up smoothing over any rough edges especially around the exhaust port ?
.030 HG
Bolting it all back together....

I know it's the opposite of blueprinting an engine, but for a basic street build, l don't think I can go to far wrong?

What say you ?
Thanks

Can`t go wrong with an improved cam and more compression.
Discernible difference for relatively little $
Don`t forget to check end play on the new cam.

EDIT: looks like aftermarket cams are .050 shorter so that they be used in both early (80`s) and later models.
Might need p/n 25551-36 to obtain desired .015 end play

thanks 88. I'm pretty sure l ordered a pack of assorted size shims when l ordered the cam but thanks for the reminder.

hey djl, l have the 9.5 pistons on the way, but using the compression calculator l need to cc the heads down to 80cc to get the compression I need for the cam... is 80cc heads safe or is it taking off too much??
I don't want to have any manifold fitment issues or piston to valve clearance problems. The cam is 500 lift.
Thanks.

Is it to late to order 10.1 ( you mentioned those in post 26)) or 10.5 pistons ?
Seems easier
