Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
It was recommended that I go ahead and post this here.
I'm looking at possibly doing a 124 build on my 107. Looking for advice and thoughts on parts. Hoping for a nice smooth powerband for touring, regardless of weather but enough power to have fun. Right now I am looking at the Zippers 124 Sleeper with the 472 cam. A guy who works at my Local Harley shop almost recommended the S&S kit but when I mentioned the desire for a reliable touring engine he then suggested the Harley 128 kit. I am honestly leaning towards the Zippers kit. Can anyone recommend other kits, companies or a mix and match list of parts thats comperable?
Hoping for 120hp and 140ft/lb. I currently have the Rinehart Slimline Duals with the DBX40 mufflers, but will probably switch to the D&D X-Cat 2:2 and the standard Rinehart baffles when the time comes to build.

Go look @ Fuel Moto website their dyno section gives plenty of combos & university section gives info on exhaust set -up
I went with the FM 124 kit on my 17 RK SP. Very pleased with the outcome. Did all the work myself and then had it Dyno tuned. As far as a complete and proven kit goes with support after the sale, you cant beat the FM packages in my opinion. The HD option is the other choice if your not looking for big peak HP/TQ numbers as they have to stay within epa perimeters for tuning. I'm at 144/148 and have almost 12k miles on my set-up.
I don't believe so. They are all most likely related in some form or another. The only issue I've heard about was some of the early HD cylinders were out of round and contributing to the sumping issues.
