Looking for people with experence with different cams in a 95" twin cam superglide. Currently I have a 95" forged flat tops, hillside stage 1 heads and a s&s 510 cam. Ive been looking into going up with the cam since the heads are set up for 600 lift. keeping under that I have been eyeballing the Dave Mackie 590, Redshift 575, Leinweber 5ts(if i can find one) and the woods tw-6h. Hillside is recommending the 6H since i ride two up most of the time. i like the mackie cam more on paper due to the 8 more degrees of duration on intake and exhaust over the 6H. Im about 190-200 lbs and the wife is about 135 lbs. so not a lot of weight on the superglide. I am more of an aggressive rider and kinda need to be with the 510's not really pulling well under 28-2900. I really like the 3000 rpm light switch the 510's have but wouldn't mind having a little lower, say a power band from 2500 up.
I am thinking of sending the heads back to hillside this winter to have the stage 2 or 3 completed, cause im a power nut. I want to keep the flat tops and as it stands now need to keep the intake closing under 45 to keep the compression where Scott told me to keep it with my chamber size and all. Out of those cams what do yall think would work for my current set up, if i dont send the heads back this winter, and work well with the increase in flow on the heads?
Also will it be worth it? looking at woods dyno sheets on his site the tw6-6 (comperable to the S&S 510) dosent loose much to the 6h in power or torque. not looking for a 15 hp bump from changing the cam but would like to feel it.
yeah just got off the phone with him again. The 510's are working well right now. but he recommended the 6h again. just gets more power at a slightly earlier rpm
Thinking that I might hold off on the cams for now. Wait a couple years, ride the hell out of it, then..... Have Dark horse rebuild the crank, lighten it a bit, have scott do the stage 3 heads and go to 98" and do a good cam upgrade with a woods carb. sounds good, just have to talk the wife into it.
How do you like the 570? its basically just a high lift 510 at least thats what the specs show. Do you have a dyno chart for it?

No dyno runs
The 570`s love to rev but combined with more CID and increased C/R & head work it eliminates the lack of low end that you mention with 510`s
And I`m running a 700lb bike with tall gearing
mine does have the higher comp, scott set the heads up for the pistons that Im running and set the running compression to about 190 psi. well thats what the math works out to be anyway. he also did the stage one heads for me which are big valve on intake and look about like the stage two minus the new valve guides. he may get them back this winter to take them to stage two for me. only about $ and would be well worth it i think. the 510's do run good, but hit that 3000 mark and they take off till the 6200 rev limit that i have set. Below 2500 the are a little sluggish but i thing that has to do with the 2-1 that I have. ill try to mess with the adjustable baffle this season to see if i can get some of that out of it. Running the patriot 2-1 that has the butterfly in it to adjust back pressure. Im going to try to see if I can hit a dyno but seems like no one round here has the time to get it on the rollers. and then just a run costs about $160 with no tuning.
Most likely the 510's were set to 9.9 or maybe even 10.0:1.. The W6H is a good cam with more cubic inches.. And will come in around 2800 maybe a little less but would come on a little sooner with a little more comp... The W6h really likes 10.2-10.3:1.. And with the stage II Heads will be a nice improvement but what will help it the most down low it's a well tuned Supertrapp... I know Scott really likes them... You never mentioned wether it's carbed or fuel injected.. Realistically you should see 105/105 maybe even a tad more... Especially if you have an S&S E...
