Vented my crank case with the a1 after I sumped the first engine,I believe in venting, also no residue in my air cleaner. My dipstick stays in my saddle bag
So after venting the crankcase with a vented dipstick configuration, is it still advisable to run external breathers at the air cleaner as well, or is that overkill?
The OE dipstick un-snaps from the top.
We drill/tap for a 1/8-27 NPT pipe thread.
Then drill thru the body in 3 spots with a 3/16" drill.(creating 6 holes)
Snap back togather....done.
Route your line.
117"-up here get that.
On certain engines we have witnessed 1, 1 1/2 hp increase, on back/back dyno testing.
Not a deal maker, or breaker.
I use one on my 131".

Nevermind. More than 1 way to skin a cat I guess.
Incidentally, the krankvent claims a 2 - 8% increase in power too. Not that I buy into that. I do know it solves any blowby or chronic leak issues and the motor revs more freely. A reed valve would be even better.
Maybe 2%... blue sky day, wind at your back, going downhill.....8%?.....impossible for that amount of pressure to be within an engine without adverse affects prior.

Oh I don't disagree with you there. MAYBE a little on a motor that had bad breathers in the first place but other than that...But I know from first hand experience it does improve throttle response, smooths the idle, even changes the tone of the motor. I haven't done it to my 103 yet. I will eventually but havent determined the best location on this motor. I like the idea of eliminating the head breathers and cleaning up the dangling hoses associated with them but could just be added after the tee in the hoses too and leaving the stock umbrella contraption in place.
The only real increase as far as power goes is removing the breathers from the intake tract. That consistently adds 2 - 3hp across the entire rpm range. But that's just common sense. Diluting the intake charge with hot, oily air will have a negative effect on power, even cause a poor idle condition.

I would love to see pics of the one you made! Do you sell them?
