It's no wonder these front suspension sucks so bad...... I never seen such a short Spring in all my life and look at the size of that plug holy ****.... Like I was asking before about fluid levels not sure how much these 49 mm tube take... I don't have a manual but the fork oil is at a level that is only 9" from the top of the tube... Is this normal.?? I'l measure what I take out but it seems like a lot... I am used to anything from 10.5 to 12 oz a leg but that's the older 41 mm suspensions.. check out the pics.. Holy ****... Anything would be an improvement...
Oh and one more Thing I forgot to mention was the fork oil that's in this is like ****ing water... Now I see why these ride like ****....
????
One of the best forks I own has short springs in it..
I already had a vacuum pump so I decide to make own little canister (a jelly jar) with some of my pneumatic connectors that I use at word in HVAC... in works pretty good to suck the oil out of the tube...
Seeing that I don't have drains on my fork lowers and all time doing is changing out the Springs, going to Progressives, I'm just gonna suck it out with a mighty vac get all I can and measure what I take out and go from there... I really didn't feel like taking the whole thing apart Just to do new Springs in oil change. Anyone know how many ounces in a 49 mm 2013 FXDB? Thanks..
I was kidding who the heck actually says Catsup? Lol. You'll have to excuse me, I have to go over to the suspension sub forum to ask which cams to use (just yanking your chain) I just changed to 15wt, but it will be 3-4 weeks before I can go for a ride. Need to wait for more snow to melt, and rain to wash the salt and sand off the roads up here.

I have a 07 flhtc. Probably had the forks apart 6-7 times. What really works well for me is 1.0 kg/mm RT springs about 40mm preload, the stock emulator with center hole drilled out 7/64 and 5 wt oil. The stock springs are way too weak (about .72 kg/mm) and the damping too stiff. When I bought EGC it used had progressive heavies in it. Switched to progressive regular, tried RT emulators and eventually ended up with the setup that works sell for me.. Bike has over 100000 miles on it.
49 mm forks require the height of the fluid level measured from the top of the tube with the fork fully compressed
A scale [precision ruler] works fine. Check the manual
The special tool or a facsimile thereof is needed for the nut, works great.
I like the amsoil medium fork oil for the front
