Engine light on with high rev

Hey guys! So I was out riding tonight when I saw my engine light come on, so I then turned around and as I was shifting A few times I was noticing that my idle was going way up !? Anyone know what might be happening by any chance ? The bike is a 2003 road king..

As T.G stated , check for codes , if you don't have any , I would look for an intake leak , spray some tb cleaner on your seals and injector seals and see if the idle changes .
