Please don't think this a dumb question but - which stud hole did it fall into? And have you rotated the engine at all since?

Was it an official brand name q-tip or a generic knock off?

Was thinking about how to maybe scrape it off but since you've rotated, that's be an exercise in wasting time.

Since it was the cotton only, I wouldn't give it another thought. You wouldn't believe stuff I've found when splitting cases without ever being an issue. And you know there has to be tens of thousands of these things running around with chips and flakes of base gaskets and heaven knows what else been run thru them without any problem.

You`re overthinking this...... A lot worse things get into the engine and lower end and do nothing to it. I wouldn`t worry about it.

I would take a piece of fuel line and tape it inside of my shop vac. hose and then stick it down into the bottom of the case and suck everything up i can. Make sure the vacuum is clean so you can see what you have pulled out. 3/8 hose would be good to start with and then move down to 1/4 inch. Keep going after it until you get it.
I would be worried it would find it's way into a oil passage and starve something for oil. Or it could even break the keyway in the oil pump. Kinda depends on how big the piece is.
