Screaming Eagle 110 CVO
So, it's a crate motor, not a CVO motor, they are built differently. If you have an open air cleaner assembly, you will hear intake noises through the air cleaner, nature of the beast. As for top end rattling, if it has the SE559 cam in it (which is what I think the crate motor has), they are noisy cause of the cam's lift rates. If you are in 5th or 6th gear under 2500 rpm and give it heavy throttle, it will not be happy, nature of the cam and it's power band. The question about what Tuner you have and did you change the tune to match the engine is a good question.
I don't think people were necessarily being smart ***'s , low speed and either of those gears don't go together , I don't shift into 5th till I hit 60 or so , and 70mph would be my min for 6th , if your going slower than that in either of those gears I would consider that too much load and vary hard on your motor, what RPM are you at slow speed in 5th or 6th ?
It’s a 2015 110 screaming eagle crate motor I put it on my 2012 ultra limited when I bought my limited it had a 120r on it I took the 120r and put it on my 05 Dyna anyway I’m just looking for someone that might know if it’s a commen problem or weather or not it’s the rockers, lifters, pushrods what not the hard knock under load sound like it’s coming from the top end on the front cylinder and there is a popping coming from the intake that is faint like a intake valve is slightly stuck open or what not just looking for some advise
It might simply be an exhaust leak. Or loose compression release.
OK, now I am confused. In the OP, the OP says he took a bike for test ride that showed some anomolies that he didn't like so posted here with questions. Then in post #8 the OP says the motor in quesion is a 2015 crate motor that he installed in his 2012 Ultra. So is it the motor in the test ride bike or the motor in the OPs '12 Ultra? Not that it matters regarding the symptoms and possible sources but which bike?
And rightfully so.... He never mentions installing a tuner as Fat11Lo mentions which would've been my first stab at this one.. For someone that does all his own motor work one would've thought that a good tuner would be one of the first things he should've upgraded..
